Our academic year averages 180 school days from August to June. All instruction is given in English. We offer two diplomas: an Academic Diploma requiring 24 Carnegie credits and an Advanced Academic Diploma requiring 27 Carnegie credits. Our demanding honors level curriculum is a combination of resources from the United States of America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Korea, and the United Kingdom.
Students in Kindergarten through Grade 6 receive instruction in the “grammar” of core disciplines with an emphasis on mastery. Students also participate in physical fitness training and study Russian, art, and music.
Tien Shan’s secondary school (Grade 7 to Grade 12) provides a challenging college preparatory education. Students are expected to read and write extensively in every academic class as well as participate in class discussions and projects. The Grade 7 and Grade 8 programs focus on building a strong base for high school level courses as well as promoting study and time management skills. The high school program offers four years of foreign language, social sciences, math, language arts, and science, along with art history, music history, fine arts, and the performing arts. Tien Shan offers an Advanced Academic Diploma and a General Academic Diploma.
All of our students are challenged to be a team players, serve the community, grow in interpersonal and communication skills, and develop thier leadership/mentoring skills.
Students graduating from Tien Shan have been accepted in top universities in the United States of America, South Africa, South Korea, Australia, and Germany.
Each year, more than 40% of our secondary student body is involved in Student Government. Over 75% of our graduates participate in Student Government and take two years of Leadership Development courses.
