Academics
Our academic year averages 175 school days from August to June. All instruction is given in English. We offer two diplomas: an Academic Diploma requiring 24 Carnegie credits and an Advanced Academic Diploma requiring 27 Carnegie credits. Our demanding honors level curriculum is a combination of resources from the United States of America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Korea, and the United Kingdom.
Elementary School
Students in Kindergarten through Grade 5 receive an academic program focusing on the foundations and skill mastery of all core subjects with exposure to the humanities. Students also participate in physical fitness training and study foreign language, art, music and spiritual formation.
Middle School
The philosophy of TSIS Middle School is to provide a program that equips and empowers students as they transition from self-contained elementary classrooms to high school. Middle School at TSIS comprises students in grades 6 through 8. The philosophy recognizes the uniqueness of students in this age group with an emphasis on meeting students’ needs academically, socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
High School
Tien Shan’s high school (Grade 9 to Grade 12) provides a challenging college preparatory education. Students are expected to read and write extensively in every academic class as well as participate in class discussions and projects. The high school program offers four years of foreign language, social sciences, math, language arts, and science, along with art history, music history, fine arts, and the performing arts. Tien Shan offers an Advanced Academic Diploma and a General Academic Diploma. Optional AP International Diploma.
All of our students are challenged to be a team players, serve the community, grow in interpersonal and communication skills, and develop their leadership/mentoring skills.
Students graduating from Tien Shan have been accepted in high ranking universities in the United States of America, Canada, South Africa, South Korea, China, Netherland, Lithuania, Russia, Australia, and Germany.
Each year, more than 40% of our secondary student body is involved in Student Government. Over 75% of our graduates participate in Student Government and take two years of Leadership Development courses.
